We are currently seeking a manager to join our Strategy Integration & Separation Advisory team based in Beijing. As part of KPMG’s Strategy group, the Integration & Separation Advisory practice provides clients with merger, acquisition and divestiture support, focusing on pre-, mid- and post-deal integration and separation planning and implementation. This includes cost and synergy assessments, due diligence reviews, and pre-signing and pre-completion support. Our professionals work with our clients throughout the transaction lifecycle to help ensure that deal objectives and value targets are met with minimal disruption to their business.
Responsibilities
Work in a project team, occasionally alongside other countries across Asia Pacific and globally, to lead and / or participate in engagements to assist clients to execute project tasks within the Project Management Office and across multiple functions, including finance, supply chain, and HR
Apply integration or separation methodology to the practical aspects of business operations and the client’s market sector throughout the engagement process to support sound and practical recommendations to clients
Understand the sources of value for synergy, and critically assess client’s assumptions to support the pre-signing process
Manage multiple Project Management Office tasks, including assessing the completion of milestones, identifying and escalating risks and issues, summarizing status reports and other administration activities
Plan, develop and execute project plans, identify areas for improvement and support detailed planning and execution through the post deal completion phase
Build and maintain strong and interactive client relationships. When required, act as the key point of contact to client stakeholders
Proactively identify issues that likely could impact project success and lever wider KPMG service line support as required, differentiating and enhancing our service offering to clients
Develop quality end products, such as tracking tools, client-specific project templates and reports
Lead preparation of high-quality recommendations and project plans
Assist with the creation and development of proposals and attend client sales meetings
Experience
Minimum of 5 years work experience in audit or advisory / consultancy or a industry based operational role, with specific industry focus (FS is preferred, but not essential). M&A and Project Management Office experience is preferred
Recognized degree from leading international university, with further studies (post-graduate study or professional qualification) preferred
Strong understanding of the M&A process
Experience of key integration / separation activities such as Project Management Office support, synergy evaluation, communications planning, operating model development, finance and HR integration planning and execution, and supply chain planning
Excellent analytical, problem solving and project and time management skills
Self-motivated, well-organised with a positive attitude towards challenges
Enthusiasm to participate or lead in a team based across multiple geographies to meet challenging client deadlines in a fast paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, ideally in both English and Chinese (Putonghua), the latter preferred but not essential
Strong knowledge and experience using the basic Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, PPT and Word)

Our Corporate Tax team is constantly involved in providing tax advisory services for corporate restructuring and mergers and acquisitions, advising on tax efficient investment structures and conducting tax due diligence. We also help organisations deal with the costs and opportunities arising from the introduction of China’s latest tax policy, including advising on tax planning strategies, tax implications on China investments and tax incentives under the new law. Our people are allocated to specific client teams on a project by project basis, taking into account the level of experience required, the development needs and availability. We provide services to a diverse client base in different industries, and cover a wide range of taxes from income tax and turnover taxes to property taxes.
Responsibilities
Structure cross-border corporate investment and develop acquisition strategies
Act as the primary point of contact for client liaisons
Work and interact with multidisciplinary teams
Identify business opportunities and participate in the development, marketing and implementation of tax services
Lead or help to lead the team and provide a supportive environment for staff development and motivation
Continue to learn throughout your career, and actively share your knowledge
Assist in meeting the tax practice’s financial targets
Assist in managing risks within the business by understanding its risk management policies and ensuring compliance from the team
Experience
Excellent financial and business analytical skills, including a degree in Accounting / Finance or any other business-related discipline
Minimum of three years’ experience in a professional service environment (tax experience preferred)
Ability to think strategically and analyse complex business transactions to identify key issues / risks
Excellent multi-tasking skills
Ability to make clear recommendations based on a sound assessment of the advice and information gathered
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly to non-experts
Ability to work cross functionally and cross culturally
Strong presentation skills, with an excellent command of verbal and written English and Chinese

Assist Partners and Directors in practice development and business growth
Support audit team in reviewing valuation prepared by other valuers and advisors
Perform industry and market research
Build and / or review financial models when required
Prepare valuation report and review memos
Perform various tasks in pitching opportunities, risk management and administrative support
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in business valuation or project management (candidates with less experience would be considered for assistant manager position)
Experience in leading and mentoring a team

A professional qualification in Accounting, CFA, CICPV or RICS is a plus
Advanced MS Excel skills
