Chinese report denounces tribunal ruling as a US ploy

Beijing is stepping up its war of words against the Hague tribunal ruling against it over territorial rights in the South China Sea but one maritime security expert believes shipping safety could ultimately be improved. The day after the ruling in favour of the Philippines over rights to the Spratly Islands, China issued a near 14,000- word paper denouncing it as a US ploy based on “distorted factsmisinterpreted laws and a pack of lies”
