More than half (58%) of people working in the financial services sector do not enjoy their job, a new study by Emolument has found

According to a survey by the salary-benchmarking site, the majority of people working in sectors such as financial services, retail and manufacturing do not like their jobs, while people working within the human resources, technology and telecoms sectors tend to be more satisfied.

The survey also found that people working in micro and small companies tend to enjoy what they do, with 63% and 52% responding positively about their work satisfaction respectively.

However, 60% of people working in large listed companies said they did not like their jobs, followed by 59% of those working in large private companies.

Moreover, the first few years in people’s careers seem to be the most enjoyable ones.

While nearly half (49%) of those with less than three years of experience said they enjoyed their job, only 38% of people with five to ten years of experience still liked what they do.

Alice Leguay, co-founder and chief operating officer at Emolument.com said, “Happiness at work is in no way correlated to absolute pay levels.

“The happiest employees are either very junior, in support functions, or working for small businesses, not necessarily where clichés would have us believe happiness lies, i.e., high-flying corporate careers.”

Nevertheless,the Big Four firm PwC was named earlier this week as the UK’s top graduate employer, with Deloitte, KPMG and EY also being featured in the top 10 graduate employers list.

然而，在大型上市公司工作的员工中，有60%表示不喜欢目前的工作。这一数字在大型私营企业达到59%。

此外，大多受访者认为职业生涯的最初几年似乎是最令人愉快的。

在拥有少于三年工作经验的人群中，近一半（49％）的受访者表示喜欢自己的工作，而在拥有5-10年工作经验的人群中，只有38％的受访者表示仍然喜欢他们从事的工作。

Emolument网站联合创始人兼首席营运官爱丽丝·莱瓜依（Alice Leguay）表示：“工作中所获取的幸福感与薪酬水平没有绝对的关系。”

莱瓜依还表示：“最享受工作的员工要么是在支持性部门从事很初级的工作，要么就是在小型企业中工作。他们并不一定是在从事着那些被普遍认为有幸福感的工作——也就是所谓的在高速运转的大公司中的职业生涯。”

尽管如此，在本周早些时候，四大会计师事务所之一的普华永道（PwC）被评为最受英国毕业生欢迎的雇主。德勤（Deloitte）、毕马威（KPMG）和安永（EY）也在毕业生眼中的最佳雇主名单中名列前十。
