A lot of peopleasked to be part of NASA’s astronaut training program. There areover 18,300 people asking to work in NASA. This is a new record. Officials in NASA will now spend 18 months looking at andselecting the best people. It will show the successful people in the middleof 2017. Brian Kelly of NASA said, “It’s great to know so many people think itis a great opportunity to be a member of NASA. I cannot wait to meetthe men and women who are excellent enough to rise to the top.”

There is a great wishto work on America’s space program. NASA’s Charlie Bolden said, “So many Americans from different families want to dosomething meaningful on our journey to Mars(火星).” The bestmen and women will have an interview(面试) in Houston, Texas. The selected ones will then get twoyears of training. They will learn things such as spacewalking, teamwork anddriving spaceships. They will also learn Russian. After that, they could go tothe International Space Station or work for companies making spaceships for tourists,such as Space X.
